AIDA ELTORIE

Aïda Eltorie is an international curator from the Mediterranean region. Landmarked by co-curating the Egyptian Pavilion at the 54th International Venice Biennial. Honoring the late and pioneering sound and video artist, Ahmed Basiony, martyred by the Egyptian Revolution in 2011. The project entitled “Thirty Days of Running in the Space,” was nominated for the Golden Lion Award thanks to the collective agents who worked together during a difficult time in the country. Eltorie co-introduced the Maldives Pavilion addressing ecological change entitled “Portable Nation: Disappearance as a Work in Progress – Approaches to Ecological Romanticism,” at the 55th International Venice Biennial in 2013 and the project was nominated for Principle Entry International Exhibitions.  She was the co-Curator of the 8th Manifesta Biennale (2010), and the EU Commission in collaboration with the ARTos House for the European Capital of Culture in Paphos 2017

Managing international projects from Japan, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, UK, France, Egypt and the UAE. She was the film curator at Manifesta 8: The European biennial of contemporary art (Spain) under the curatorial team the Chamber of Public Secrets (Denmark and Lebanon); the co-founder and curator of The Changing Room project in Turin and for the London Festival (2012). She was also the founder of the Maraya Video Archive, a collection of contemporary video art works from the Arab region in Sharjah, UAE under the auspices of the Maraya Art Centre. Editor-in-Chief of Contemporary Practices Journal (Dubai and London), and Production Manager of Bidoun Magazine (New York) of which time she also worked at The Brooklyn Museum’s Feminist Art Centre and Christies Auction House.

Eltorie has given a widespread of lectures and panel discussions on international projects at Art Basel, The American University in Cairo, The House of World Cultures (Berlin), The Royal College of Arts (Copenhagen), AICA Conference (Zurich), Latvia Contemporary Art Centre (Riga), the Mori Art Museum (Tokyo) and the ARTos House (Nicosia). 

Specialized in production management, strategic development, innovative design and communications in international coproduction management, Aïda Eltorie has worked in various industries spanning the creative sciences, energy, medical and education focusing on project innovation and brand conception; ideation, implementation and project visibility.

Certified in international co-production management, filmmaking in video production, curatorial management, stop-motion animation. She directed an award-winning film for Sagis Diagnostics produced by AMA by Aisha at the Orion Media Group, winner of best short film by Range Finder Magazine and WIPPA Events.
